You’ll be amazed just how simple you can make a painting by only using a straw as your painting tool that’s beautiful and frame-worthy.

What You’ll Need to for Your Blow Painting Masterpiece

Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace

Spread out the Kraft Paper on top of the space you’ll be painting on. Place the Tagboard on top. Squeeze out colors of Acrylic Paint you’ll be using.

Now, you’ll want to dilute your Acrylic Paint with water. Always start by adding just a little water, maybe 1/2 a teaspoon for every 1/3 cup of Acrylic Paint. Then add more if you need or want more of a watery consistency.

Mix each cup really good with your Paintbrush making sure to rinse your Paintbrush in the cup of water and wipe it clean with the paper towel every time you mix a new color.

Step 2: Transfer Paint to Paper

Now you’re all set to paint! I simply pour a little paint out of the cup onto the Tagboard. You can also get fancy and guide the paint while pouring it to make a circle, squiggly line, or other design. I suggest doing one design at a time.

Step 3: Blow Paint with Straw

Take your straw and gently blow through it to guide the paint in the direction you want it to go. The way you position your straw makes a difference too. Position your straw straight up and down and blow, you’ll create a ripple effect, especially if you perform this technique on a thicker blob of paint. Position your straw on an angle and you’ll create more of a streak of paint. Move your straw while your blowing through it and you can create sort of like a wave effect or smear.

Step 4: Let It Dry

Once you’re done creating your masterpiece, let it dry. I’d give it a full 24 hours, especially if you’re working with different dilution ratios.

Whether your painting is frame-worthy or not, I hope you had fun!
