Need a quick craft idea to change up the focus of your little one? Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how to make two cute little flowers out of just one piece of paper. These paper flowers are a perfect craft for the spring and summer and they’re great for a Mother’s Day craft too.

What You’ll Need

Step 1

Take the blank piece of paper and color on it with the marker to fill up the page. I like the look of this technique and it gives your kids an extra thing to do, but colored construction paper works just fine. If you use construction paper, you can obviously skip this step.

Step 2

Once you’ve filled up your paper with color, fold it in half horizontally. You can either rip or cut the two halves, but I prefer ripping. I actually find ripping easier and it’s a cool cutting hack you can teach your children!

You’ll end up with two halves. Now, divide those into halves. Keep doing this until you have 16 rectangular pieces of paper

Step 3

Take one of the pieces of paper you divided and roll it into a cone, making sure the colored side is facing outward. The best way to do this is to lay out the piece of paper so that the short sides are on top and bottom. Take the lower right corner and start rolling it up into a cone shape. It should be pretty tight.

Take your glue and glue the exposed edge down to secure the cone. I find using a glue stick is less messy for this part.

Do this with the rest of the pieces of paper. These are your “petals” for the flowers.

Step 4

Cut the cones in half.

Step 5

Grab one of the petals and place a line of liquid glue on the side of it. This will be your center petal.

Place another cone on top of the glue, aligning it with the bottom of the center petal, and hold it for a few seconds. Make sure the tip of the petal is on the outside. Continue this process with five more petals going around the center petal. There should be six petals for each flower.

Repeat this process again with some of the remaining petals. Once this is complete, you should have two unused petals left.

Step 6

Take one of the leftover petals and stick it into the center petal until they’re about even. The tip of the petal you inserted should be on the opposite side of the tip of center petal. Repeat this step with the other flower and remaining petal.
